Videos
Articles on this site embed videos from YouTube, but nothing is requested from YouTube or Google until you press play. Until then, the player is a static image served from this site’s own pages. When you do press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com and YouTube’s own privacy policy applies from that point on.
The preview thumbnails are served from YouTube’s image host, i.ytimg.com. That request carries your IP address, as any image request does, but sets no cookies.
What this site stores
This site does not ask you to create an account, does not run a comment system, and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking.
WordPress, which this site runs on, may set a small number of functional cookies if you log in to the administration area. Ordinary visitors are not logged in and are not issued those cookies.
Server logs
The hosting provider keeps standard web server logs, which record IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, and browser user-agent strings. These are used for security and troubleshooting.
Analytics
Visitor statistics are collected with Matomo, running on Martinusforum’s own server at martinusforum.dk/matomo. The data stays on that server; it is not shared with a third-party analytics provider, and it is not used for advertising.
Matomo records the pages you visit, the page that referred you, an approximate location, and basic details about your browser and device. It sets a small number of first-party cookies so that several page views in a row can be recognised as one visit rather than counted separately.
Two settings are worth naming, because they are not the defaults everywhere. IP addresses are anonymised before they are stored — the last two bytes are masked, so an address is only ever kept in a form that identifies a rough region rather than a household. And Matomo honours the Do Not Track browser setting: if your browser sends it, you are not tracked at all.
